Three stories we hear every week
Whatever brought you here, you will not be the oldest person in our chairs, and you will not be the only adult in the waiting room.
The smile they always wanted
Decades of covering a smile in photos, then a wedding, a milestone birthday or simply the right moment. Straightening as an adult is a decision you get to make for yourself this time.
Teenage braces that drifted
Braces years ago, retainers long gone, and teeth that have quietly moved back. Relapse is the most common adult case we see, and often a shorter treatment fixes it for good.
Health first, looks second
Crowded teeth are harder to clean, bites wear unevenly, and dentists often send patients to us to align teeth properly before implants, veneers or other restorative work.
Already have a plan or a quote from elsewhere? We are always happy to give a second opinion.
Straighter teeth, without announcing it
The reason most adults finally say yes: nobody has to know. Both of our main options are built for professional, adult life.
Clear aligners (Angel Aligners)
Nearly invisible trays, removable for meetings, meals and photos.
- Close to invisible, most colleagues never notice
- Removable for eating, cleaning and the big presentation
- Needs around 22 hours of wear a day, which suits disciplined adults well
- We will be honest about whether your case suits aligners
Discreet braces, ceramic or LightForce
The reliable choice for every case type, in far subtler form than you remember.
- Clear ceramic brackets that blend with your teeth
- LightForce 3D-printed custom braces, smaller, precise and comfortable
- Works 24/7 and handles complex movements aligners cannot
- Nothing to remember, nothing to lose
We no longer offer Invisalign. We used it in the past and now primarily use Angel Aligners, the full story is on our Invisalign page.
What is different about adult treatment
Clear pricing, no surprises
The first step is a free Smile Assessment. A full diagnostic work-up with a written plan and exact quote is $390. Simple cosmetic treatment from $7,900, comprehensive specialist treatment from $9,900 with most cases around $10,400, all-inclusive of records, appliances, appointments, retainers and aftercare. Interest-free in-house plans work out around $60 to $76 a week, and there is $500 off if paid in full.
Adult orthodontics, answered honestly
Am I too old for braces or clear aligners?
No. Teeth move at any age, and we treat adults in their 20s through to their 60s and beyond. What matters is not your age but the health of your teeth and gums, which we check carefully before any treatment starts. If they are healthy, straightening is on the table.
Can I straighten my teeth without anyone noticing?
Very nearly. Clear aligners like Angel Aligners are close to invisible and removable for meetings and meals. Clear ceramic braces blend with your teeth, and LightForce 3D-printed custom braces are smaller and more precise than the braces you remember. Most colleagues simply never notice.
How long does adult orthodontic treatment take?
Most comprehensive adult treatments take around 12 to 24 months. Without growth to help us, adult treatment can run a little longer than the same case in a teenager, but focused cosmetic alignment of the front teeth can be considerably shorter. You get an honest timeframe in writing before you commit.
How much does adult orthodontic treatment cost in NZ?
At Milk Orthodontics, simple cosmetic treatment starts from $7,900 and comprehensive specialist treatment from $9,900, with most cases around $10,400, all-inclusive of records, appliances, appointments, retainers and aftercare, including GST. In-house interest-free plans work out at roughly $60 to $76 a week, and there is $500 off if you pay in full.
I had braces as a teenager and my teeth have moved. What now?
This is one of the most common adult cases we see, and it is very fixable. Depending on how far things have moved, the answer may be a shorter course of aligners or braces, and this time retainers are included so the result lasts. A free Smile Assessment will tell you exactly where things stand.
Twenty minutes. No obligation. Honest answers.
A free Smile Assessment in the clinic or over Zoom, with no referral needed. Come and find out what is actually possible, and what it would actually cost.
